The Medical Community Takes a Step Forward in the Fight Against COVID-19 with TytoCare

The COVID-19 pandemic now affects most countries throughout the world, including Thailand. The infection rate in Thailand is increasing each day, as is the number of patients requiring daily monitoring and observation. The government agencies and private sector organizations are collaborating to fight the outbreak, with the objective of boosting public morale while moving the country forward into economic recovery as quickly as possible.

In her role as government sector representative, Professor Emerita Somsri Pausawasdi, M.D., President of the Medical Council of Thailand, received 200 TytoCare devices from Samitivej Hospital and the Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) group. These kits were presented by Ms. Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, M.D., Group 1 CEO, BDMS, and Mr. Chairat Panthuraamphorn, M.D., Group CEO, Samitivej Hospital and BNH Hospital, who join with the government in helping to care for the people of Thailand. TytoCare devices are a new innovation that can help mitigate the risk of infection for medical personnel, and relieve anxiety and reduce COVID-19 infections among the general public. Government representatives will distribute the devices to various hospitals throughout the country in order to reach as wide a number of people as possible.

The benefits to the country as a whole are as follows:

  • Reduces the risk of infection of medical personnel resulting from contact with, and examine, patients with short-term infection risk.
  • Reduces the number of personnel exposed to infected persons or those with risk criteria for infection, helping to solve issues of hospital personnel shortages.
  • Reduces the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) because doctors and nurses are able to remotely examine infected patients.
  • Allows patients to access medical services without having to travel to hospitals where they will be at greater risk of infection.
  • Provides for the examination of patients in remote areas or those who are currently in quarantine or isolation.

TytoCare devices allow healthcare providers to examine patients for fever, listen to their lungs and breathing sounds, check for inflammation in the throat and tonsils, check for inflammation or infection within the ears, examine heart rate, and observe and monitor skin inflammation and rashes. Pictures and video can be captured and stored, providing doctors with real-time information about their patients’ symptoms online.

Approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand, TytoCare devices have received the support of both the Medical Council of Thailand and the Medical Association of Thailand, in the hope that TytoCare will benefit our medical personnel, the public, and the country as a whole.
